Weekend Wrap - Round 5, 2020-21

Not a fantastic week for the good guys in Round 5 but we still managed four wins across the club. In the world of the seniors, our firsts remain undefeated withe a comprehensive win over Lilydale while in junior ranks our two U14 sides continued on their good form with wins and our 12-8s backed up their first win last week with another close victory.

It wasn't an amazing week for the batsmen with just two old blokes managing 50s in the mod grades and some good efforts from Chris Deidun (30), Sean Dalton (29), Moonfish (43) along with the ageless Bill Brown (28) and Neil Pitt (23). Wynny hit a nice 27 in the fours while under 14 Ashton worked hard for his 25 in the 5s.

On the bowling front, the ones shared the wickets as they had Lilydale 8/30 at one stage while Damo and Mike led the way in the twos with 3/34 each as our boys fell just 4 runs short in a tense chase.

In the junior ranks, there were again lots of contributors with both bat and ball in the 14s. Luke the import top scored with 36 while Deakin scored a hard hitting 34. The highlight with the ball was Elijah grabbing 3/19.

The overall highlight for the week was the 12-8s getting their second win on the trot with a terrific team effort with lots of contributors.

One more round until the Christmas break and a couple of mid-week T20s, so get around us.
