Weekend Wrap - Round 6, 2020-21

Great to have 10 teams out there competing again over the weekend and while results didn't all go our way there were lots of great efforts and highlights as we go into the Christmas break.

The clear highlight of the weekend was our Under 16s breaking through for their first win of the season in a game that went right down to the wire. Reubs (25*), Bailey Hanna (22*) and Noah Mulligan (18*) led the way with the bat with the wickets shared.

Our Under 14s continued on their winning ways on both Friday and Saturday and have managed to go to the break on top of both ladders. Tom Elford (24*) and Ashton Smith (26*) got the respective top scores while Brendan Jones broke through to grab 3/4 in a great display with the ball for the 14-3s. Tyson Darmody (18*, 15* and 2/7) continued his good form across both days.

The 12-3s put in a much improved effort with the bat with Mackenzie Hanna leading the way (17* and 1/10) as the team got close to Eastfield with plenty of contributors.

The 12-8s continued their good form with another close game. Caitlin Miller (22*) and Gabby Hooper (2/5) took the honours with bat and ball with plenty of others chipping in as we just fell short to Bayswater Park.

It was slim pickings in the seniors with only the 2s getting home but both the 1s and 5s put in good performances to only just be overpowered late in their games.

The individual highlight of the round was 14-year old Noah Mulligan hitting his first senior half century (50) with other good knocks coming from Elijah Slatter (53) in the ones and Craig Noske (58) in the 2s.

Wickets were shared around across the board with spinners again prominent as Chris Deidun (3/27), Noah Coles (3/33) and Ben Callegaro (2/15) had the pick of the figures in the 1s, 3s and 5s along with Moonfish who noodled out another 2/21 in the 2s.

As we go to the break, the 1sts are in second on percentage while the 2s are sitting on top which is a great start for those teams who are both 5-1. The 5s are sitting 3-3 in 5th which is a great effort for a team with so many juniors in it. The 3s and 4s have work to do after the break but we're sure a good run of form is not far away.

Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a safe holiday period. We look forward to seeing you all back at the Den for 2021.
