Weekend Wrap - Week 9, 2020-21

Eight games over the weekend with two of our junior sides still on holiday. Lots of good efforts across the board with our 1sts, 2nds and 5ths grabbing wins along with our Under 16s while our 12-3s had an exciting tie! The 3s and 4s put in good efforts but just fell short while our 14s also had a close loss.

On Friday night, the 12s had a close tussle all the way will Eastfield with the game ending in a fitting tie as Eastfield scrambled a single off the last ball. Oli, Mac and Sean all batted well to score 12 each while Caitlin (2/3) and Ben Kerwin (2/4) came away with the pick of the figures as the whole team put in a terrific effort in the field.

Our 14s didn't quite get into gear on Saturday morning and finished a bit below par with the par with bat. Tyson (15*) and the Toms (12*, 11*) batted well. The boys were on top early with the ball but let Ainslie back into the game in the middle overs and eventually went down. Will, Josh and BJ were the pick of the bowlers with 1 economical wicket each.

The 16s grabbed their second win of the season after another close game with Kilsyth. Reubs (30*) found some form with Lachie and Bailey each getting 13. The Noah's lead the way with ball in a good team effort.

There were plenty of runs around for for the 2s, 3s and 5s on a day that was hard graft for the bowlers. Craig (76 from 40), Moonfish (55 from 52) and Bill (51 from 60) setup a big score for the 2s as Ben (27 from 18) and Pipes (21* from 12) put the icing on the cake as the boys hit 8/278. Damo (4/28) and Joel (3/28) quickly put the score way out of reach as the 2s won big.

The 5s had a near perfect day with the bat as the juniors and a couple of old blokes compiled 224 without loss. 15 year old Noah (50* from 54) hit his second half century of the season, with the 13 year olds, Ashton (50* from 78) and Tyson (35* from 34) also having good days with the stick. Steve (50* from 37) and Wrighty (20* from 14) ensured the the old blokes were also represented. With the ball, the under 16s did the job again with Lachie getting 2/3 (5) and Oscar snagging 2/20 (4), with Cam grabbing 2/16 for the old blokes.

The 3s had a tough day in the field as South Warrandyte put on 6/260 before the boys gave it a good shake to finish at 7/219. Neil (71 from 84) was again the main man with bat while Jamie (35* from 29) and Matt (33 from 43) also looked good. EJ (2/5) and Leroy (2/50) were the best with the ball.

The 1s game bucked the trend as the bowlers took charge. Brae (3/24) and Richie (3/15) ensured Warranwood couldn't get going as they finished with 9/119. Deids (38* from 101) controlled the chase with some quickfire runs from Sean (24 from 21) as the boys took the win 6 down.

The fours also put in a solid effort with the ball to keep Chirnside to 4/145 from their overs. Riley took 2/16 (3) with Noah also bowling well with 1/28 (6). Dwayne (26 from 41) and Marcus (28* from 40) gave us a chance with the bat but the lads finished a bit short with 7/132

All in all a positive round with 5.5 from 8. Looking forward to having all 10 teams back on the park next weekend.
